Garrovillas de Alconétar
Garrovillas de Alconétar has a magnificent artistic heritage ranging from prehistoric times to the 15th/16th centuries.
In the center of the town is the Plaza of the Constitution, considered one of the most beautiful squares in Spain and declared a National Historic-Artistic Monument. With its Gothic arches and classical facades, it becomes a bullring during village festivals. In this square is our hotel, the Puente de Alconétar Hotel, the reformed Palace of the Counts of Alba Aliste.
You can also visit the churches named Iglesia de San Pedro Apóstol or the Iglesia de Santa María de la Consolación, which has within it the oldest organ in the Iberian Peninsula , and the third oldest in Europe.
In the "Convento de las Monjas Jerónimas" we may enjoy their handmade sweets such as the typical Garrovillan’s "cagajones", "perrunillas" or the typical buds.
You can also visit the Convent of San Antonio de Padua, whose deteriorating conditions do not prevent guests admiring the majestic building.
The Sanctuary of “Nuestra Señora de Altagracia” or “La Torre de Floripes” are other places that talk about the history of the town.
